Description
Wonderful sculpture, extremely dynamic, depicting a lady and a gentleman in eighteenth-century dresses on galloping horses, with a lady riding side-saddle and a gentleman intent on stopping the woman’s runaway horse. Made of very fine porcelain biscuit by the important Venetian ceramist Luigi Fabris, in eighteenth-century rococo style, signed under the base “L. Fabris” in red and with the red anchor, the artist’s trademark. The sculpture is very similar to the Venetian artistic productions of Geminiano Cozzi, from which Fabris has always been inspired, which is clearly evident from the faces of the two subjects, which have the clear imprint of the porcelain sculptures of the Venetian tradition. Horse trimmings made with small copper ribbons, enamelled copper stirrups, extreme attention to detail, faces, horses’ muscles, flowers under the base, all fabulously executed.
