Description
Beautiful oil painting on panel by the great Spanish artist Martin Rebollo Tomas (Granada, 12.5.1858 – Madrid, 7.2.1919).
Like most artists, he came to Italy, particularly Rome, for his artistic training.
In this small Impressionist masterpiece, he demonstrates all his immense qualities as a painter of bucolic atmospheres.
In a small area, he manages to create a setting of rare intensity, transmitting to the viewer a sense of peaceful abandonment, as well as a very strong aesthetic pleasure.
Tomas Martn Rebollo began his apprenticeship with Julin Sanz del Valle, a painter from Barcelona, but in 1883 he decided to move to Madrid to attend the San Fernando School of Fine Arts. He completed his training in Rome with a scholarship from the Diputacin de Granada.
He took part in and won an honourable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1908.
Back in Italy, he travelled around the country painting popular scenes.
On returning to Spain, he settled in Madrid, where he worked as a copyist in the Prado Museum, where a small work by his hand is preserved.
This artwork, never before on the market, comes from a private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame in ebonized wood, in almost perfect condition.
A certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi official Expert in Italian furniture for the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and for the Rome Civil Courts.
