Rich and charming Italian wall sconce; from a form of turned and gilded wood, a sinuous frame of gilded iron branches out, the front volutes are surmounted by three glass bobeches above which are placed faux candle bulb holders; the frame was then adorned with metal wires with small barrel-shaped glass, flower-shaped glass and small hexagonal glass; then to give a final touch of elegance and gentility, the craftsman skillfully distributed colored ground and faceted crystal drops all over the frame; when the sconce with its three points of light, is turned on it diffuses a delicate, private and soft light. It was made entirely by hand between 1946 and 1950 in Florence by an unknown craftsman, a misunderstood Master who in his small workshop managed to come up with a unique, precious and elegant product; “elegant” objects are those that are never associated with the word “glitz” but with the simplicity of beauty and elegance. It must be remembered that Florence and Florentine craftsmanship come from afar, they bring with them values that already existed in the Middle Ages and that thanks to the “Corporations “and the enlightened Medici rulers made the city and its skilled artisans the center of the artistic world and of past and present history. The last photo shows our restorer checking and arranging the sconce before offering it for sale. Measurements width cm.40, depth cm.25, height cm.50 The electrical system has been completely redone with US wiring, voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use.
