Description
This little elm bench hails from Shanxi, circa 1890, and boasts a classic Chinese style complete with S-shaped stretchers at front and back, and legs which taper down to hoof-shaped feet ornamented with simple scrolling patterns reminiscent of the Qing period. The piece has a dark lacquer finish which has been worn over time to reveal the paler elm wood beneath, with its characteristic deep grain. Perfect for adding extra seating in any space from the kitchen to the bathroom, or for serving as a side table next to a sofa or at the end of a bed.
