BIOGRAPHY Aldo Mondino (Turin 1938-2005) began his very personal artistic adventure as an interpreter of the Conceptual Movement, and then gradually directed his research to a decidedly more pictorial side. from his works on faesite, for example, to his sculptures made with ever-different materials to his recovery of painting filtered through a great attraction for the Orient, Africa, Morocco and India. Mondino’s poetic universe is under the banner of stylistic eclecticism and a great irony that pervades all his work. The puns between titles and content are like his famous Dancing Dervishes, presented at the 1993 Venice Biennale curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, which seem suspended in a surreal space. His work, born in the context of research related to European conceptual experimentation, soon rediscovered an entirely personal relationship with painting. He has exhibited in major galleries and museums in Italy and abroad.
