Description
This particular bronze sculpture of the famous model of Antoine Louis Barye (1796 – 1875) shows a great elaborated basset dog.
This version of Baryes “Chien Basset Debout” was first modelled in the 1830s and listed in the sculptors first catalogue in 1847.
The base is signed “BARYE”.
This reproduction was poured around 1920.
