Antique early 20th Century ‘MOTOR “BP” SPIRIT’ double sided enamel advertising sign. Designed with a wonderful contrasting blue and white colours.
Motor “BP” spirit refers to a type of fuel produced by the British Petroleum (BP) company, primarily designed for use in internal combustion engines. It was commonly used in early 20th-century vehicles, particularly during the period when motor cars were becoming more widely adopted. BPs motor spirit was marketed as a high-quality fuel that provided improved performance and reliability for engines, offering better combustion and smoother operation. In addition to its widespread use in cars, it also found application in motorcycles and other motorised vehicles of the time.
