Tazza cut in gilded bronze and patinated neo-classical decoration at ancient relief.
This work by Ferdinand Levillain (1837-1905) is a procession of Greco-Roman characters leading farm and victual animals. Fine and long branches forming garlands, run over their heads. In the center, a stylized sun radiated, surrounded by decorative masks. The whole is surrounded by a frieze combining arabesques, flowers and leaves.
This cut is based on an elegant pedestal and includes the signature of the F. Barbedienne foundry.
Ferdinand Levillain exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Franais from 1861 to 1903, he worked all his career for the largest goldsmith houses and received the Legion of Honor in 1892.
This Tazza Cup is a beautiful object of art which will find its usefulness and which will satisfy lovers of refined objects.
