Description
This glass bowl was designed by Tauno Wirkkala for Humppila Glass of Finland in 1972 and in production between 1972 and 1987.
Tauno Wirkkala is brother of famous Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala. This large size handmade frosted glass centerpiece bowl, resembles sheets of ice and the outside of the bowl is textured like ice. The design is called Northern Lights (or Revontulet in Finnish) because it also is meant to look like those sheets of light in the sky.
This very beautiful brutalist piece is not marked or signed by the maker.
It is in original and good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age and use, with no chips or cracks.
