An early 20th century Thonet beech bentwood piano stool with caned seat. This iconic stool was designed by Thonet around 1900 in Austria. The seat is adjustable in height (see below for dimensions). In good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, retaining a nice patina.
Michael Thonet (Boppard, 2 July 1796 Vienna, 3 March 1871) was a German-Austrian cabinetmaker and industrialist and is regarded worldwide as one of the greatest pioneers in furniture design.
