This is an antique drawing room tea caddy. An English, flame mahogany sarcophagus with glass mixer, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
Superb craftsmanship with striking decorative appearance
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select flame stocks present superior grain interest
Warm caramel hues dazzle beneath a wax polish finish
Distinctive sarcophagus top with domed and beaded centrepiece
Dressed to the fascia with a small circular lock escutcheon in working order, key present
Pair of lidded canisters sit neatly within their recess, with a mixing glass to centre
Canisters in appealing original order, with aged linings
Mixing glass presents appealing cut detail with diamond patterns
One small loss to the circumference of the rolled foot
Glass resides within a violet velvet lined receptacle
The whole raised upon a quartet of squat bun feet
