Description
A swivel piano stool most likely made by Thonet. The frame is made of bentwood that has been stained a warm brown colour. The seat has a rattan net insert (viennese network) that has been renewed. The chair is heavy and stable. The swivel mechanism works well. This is an early version of this stool, as the seat is still supported by cross-shaped wood. In later models it was replaced with metal. We estimate the chair to have been made in the early 20th century. The chair has no visible maker’s mark. DIMENSIONS (cca) Height max: 48 cm Width max: 46 cm Depth max: 46 cm Seating diameter: 40 cm. CONDITION Good vintage condition, with varying signs of age and use to the wood (see photos). There are also visible spots, mostly around the seat, as at some point the wood had been treated for woodworms. The rattan net has been renewed.
